Meet the Owners of Garden City Tree & Landscape LTD
Chris Stansfield
For Chris Stansfield, working with the outdoors is in his blood. He combines a long heritage of northern Italian farmers with a degree from the Malaspina University-College Horticulture program.
His career in landscaping began nearly two decades ago with a tree company in Victoria. In 2003, he founded Garden City Tree & Landscape LTD, where he specializes today in the creative aspects of our landscaping services. With his wife Ronda, he is the proud father of three beautiful children.
Colin Eaton
Colin Eaton grew up loving the outdoors in the Rossland Ski country of West Kootenay. As a certified Organic Land Care Professional, he also holds certifications in Ecological Landscape Design, Organic Turf Management, and Organic Soil Management. In addition to his landscape expertise, his strong business background helps to keep our team's projects running in a structured, efficient, and professional manner.
Colin has lived on the Island for more than twenty years and is the proud father of three amazing children.

Mark Russell - Yard Operations Specialist
Mark has spent almost 25 years in the industry. He’s a topsoil & compost specialist. Mark has an 11-year-old son Ryder, and his trusty silver lab.
Mark is an avid outdoorsman enjoying hunting, fishing, off-roading, and camping. In 2019 he volunteered for the World Junior Ice Hockey Championships. He is also a founding member of Cowichan Valley Lacrosse and an active volunteer in minor hockey and lacrosse.
Dan - Yard Manager
25 Years as a Rig manager (Tool Push) 30 years total in the oil and gas industry. Left the industry in 2015 with numerous records and awards to be with my wife of 30 years (Marlene) and our 4 sons, (Daniel, Brady, Anthony, Taige) and let’s not forget my fur babies! (Beansy and Oscar). If I can’t fix it, build it, or run it. It can’t be fixed, built or run!
I enjoy automotive restoration, modification, Drag racing, and a good campfire.

Moved to the island 17 years ago. And never looked back.
Went back to school recently and got a certificate in occupational health and safety and environmental systems, in addition, I hold a class 4 power engineering ticket, Red Seal journey man rig tech ticket and numerous others. My thoughts behind it all… Knowledge is power!
Rodrigo Rojas - Human Resources
Originating from Chile and extending his professional roots to Canada, Rodrigo Rojas brings over 12 years of profound experience in Human Resources to our team since his transition in 2021.
His journey from organizational psychology and organizational development, through the mining industry, and into HR consulting, has allowed him to cultivate a diverse and rich career. As a proud alumnus of Camosun College with a specialization in HR Management, Rodrigo is not only enhancing our recruitment and performance management strategies but is also advancing his expertise as a CPHR candidate.
At Garden City, Rodrigo is the architect behind our innovative HR strategies, ensuring our team's growth is as dynamic and resilient as the landscapes we nurture. Outside the office, he values the moments spent with his wife and daughter, explores the local outdoors, and fuels his soul with metal music and video games, reflecting his multifaceted passion for life and work
Jason Nagy - General Manager
Jason has spent 31 years in the industry. For the last 10 years he was an Operational Manager. Jason is about married to his beautiful wife, Michelle. Together they have 3 children, and 2 mini-Dachshunds, Marley & Bandit.
Jason is an avid motorcyclist enjoying long road trips and winding roads, boating, fishing, and camping is a close second. Jason loves the creative process from cradle to grave in all aspects of our industry.
Deborah - Finance Manager
After spending most of the previous 10 years as General Manager of a local nonprofit charity, Deborah is excited to use her 30+ years’ experience and skills to benefit a for profit company. She is a person that is passionate about sustainability and integrity and Garden City’s reputation for excellence is well known across the Greater Victoria community. “It is a dream job to be part of a company with such integrity, core values and commitment to nature, with a culture anchored in a respect and love of people.” Deborah is a person that values family, helping people, and animals above all else and when not at work, you can find her volunteering at the Victoria Therapeutic Riding Society, or camping with her family and dogs at French Beach.
Patrick Gerard - Field Supervisor
Introducing Patrick Gerard, our Field Supervisor in Vegetation Management, whose expertise stretches far beyond the nurturing of nature. Not only is Patrick a certified arborist, but he also holds a degree in Environmental Science, enriching his understanding and approach to vegetation management.
Patrick is the creative force behind the breathtaking photographs that capture the essence of our projects, marrying his passion for photography with his acute perception of the natural world's beauty.He skillfully chronicles our journey, elevating routine projects to visual masterpieces, and sharing our narrative with the world.
Beyond his professional achievements, Patrick's heart is with his family. He treasures every moment with his wife and twins, often seen through his lens capturing the spontaneity and joy of family life. His enthusiasm for photography not only amplifies the impact of our projects but also immortalizes the everyday magnificence of his family life.
